I guess I am what you would call fashionably late this year, but I still want to wish all of you a very merry Christmas and joyful holidays together with your loved ones.

2008 has been an extremely challenging year for me as many of you know, but I did achieve most of the goals set and am happy to start into a new year freed from some of the burdens of the past years.

Below is a small selection of pictures showing what has been going on this year starting with snowboarding in France, followed by the many weddings I attended this year and closing off with pictures from the trips to New York City and Tehran at the end of this year.

All the best to you and your families, a happy and successful new year and I hope to see all of you soon again.

In case you haven't heard the term flash mob before here's the citation from wikipedia:

A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse.

Now someone came up with the concept of a freeze flash mob, meaning everyone gathers in a public place and just stops moving for a couple of minutes. You can see how much fun it is to see people wandering around totally clueless of what's going on in this video taken in London:

I just got back from snowboarding with Thomas in Axams. It was a really beautiful day, sunny, clear conditions and it didn't take us too long to find some decent powder slopes. After hugging the occasional tree jumping out in front of us and getting some bruises we ended up on this ;)

After finding this area we spent all afternoon surfing the powder and jumping over small trees!

The video below shows Thomas trying to get across a fence. Once you lost your momentum you're kinda stuck in front of it ;)

...or "how to almost drown your camera"

The day before leaving on vacation to Istanbul the week before last, I decided to take my camera (the good one) sailing. After circling the boat with a little nutshell for a while, shooting away at the breakfast going on onboard and overcoming some other hassles we finally took off.

As you can see in the image below we had some nice wind and the boat was leaning to the side far enough to have water washing around the winch. We had so much fun that we didn't really notice the water entering the cabin for quite a while. Unfortunately my camera was stored in the cabin inside a non-waterproof bag.

Long story short: The camera wasn't doing anything all night and eventually started working again the morning I was flying out to Istanbul after a night of drying and praying ;)
Some of the shots turned out really nice though and next time I will surely be packing waterproof bags!
